How did you reassure your child about having the PE tube placement procedure?
 

Before the procedure he and I talked about this. We talked about the things that would happen. We spoke in great detail about his I.V. That was his greatest concern.

With his first set of tubes he was still very young. He was only 18 months old so there was not a lot to tell him about. But before that last set we sat down with him and told him, step by step, exactly what was going to happen to him.

We came up with something we call la-la land. That's where he went after they gave him the gas to put him to sleep. He got to take a stuffed teddy bear and they put a cap on it so he could feel like he got to take his teddy bear to la-la land with him.
